The Knuckles Nature Centre is mainly established to facilitate and encourage researchers to do on-site research at Knuckles massif of central Sri Lanka
“Knuckles” is a huge mountain range gifted with ecological, social and historical treasures and hosts a vastly diverse indigenous flora and fauna. Having considered the significance of the Knuckles, the centre is established by the Socio-Environmental Society to facilitate local and foreign Nature lovers, Eco-tourists, school and university students and other institutes.
The centre provides Education, Research Facilities, Lectures, Workshops, Library Facilities, Camping Facilities, Cultural presentations, Hiking opportunities and even accommodations.
Further more, it consists of a Meditation Centre and an Ayurvedic Medical Centre with all natural traditional Ayurveda medicine obtained from Knuckles Range itself.

Our Objectives

Protection and Conservation of Knuckles Mountain Range
Conduct surveys on environmental issue such as Biodiversity and Watershed Management. Development in research activities on environment and act as a helping body for researchers, educational groups, environmentalists, and those who interest on environmental relates subjects.
Protection and conservation of Biodiversity and Watershed Management
Create new income generating sources of the indigenous community in and around of Knuckles in order to minimize the dependability of the forest for their day to day life.
Develop infrastructure facilities for the indigenous community
Sponsorship programs for the schools and school children in this areas in order to help them to meet the necessities
Function as a place for relaxation purposes for visitors.
Develop the skills and educational levels of the Youth in and surrounding of Knuckles Mountain range
